Should you just want to stay around the host city of Harderwijk (all hotels are situated in or close to this city), then you just picked out the right weekend. The traditional "Aaltjesdagen" (Eels days) are held this weekend. Harderwijk has a long history of harboring a fishermans fleet, largely thriving on eel. Although this fish can be prepared in many ways, a traditional way of conservation is smoking. And Harderwijkers are good at that! Step outside your hotel and join the crowd in loads of activities, visit markets, demonstrations, food stands, enjoy the music all around. Too much to mention. FREE |
